Music Appreciation 1 Beethoven's Fifth Part 1

What's the big deal about classical music?

Starting today, I'm offering links to free guides to help you learn to listen more deeply to some great classical music, starting with one of the most famous symphonies ever.  Each of the six lessons is about 10 minutes long.  I wrote an optional little quiz for each lesson to help you highlight some of the points in the lecture.

Each lesson includes a verbal lesson with music examples, a written transcript, and a link to a full performance of the piece.  The lesson sometimes includes a little bit of music history.

The big deal about classical music is the craftsmanship that went into the music, making it transcendentally beautiful to hear.  I hope you learn to listen more keenly, as I did, and that you learn to love this music even more.

Pieces included in my series are Beethoven's Fifth Symphony (3 lessons), Brahms's Academic Festival Overture, and others.  Here's the first one.  Find the quiz here
