Dr. Edward Wolfe recently retired from teaching music at Tempe Preparatory Academy for 19 years. TPA is one of the top schools in the state of Arizona. He also chaired the department of Fine Arts and directed the extensive extracurricular performing arts department.
In previous years, Dr. Wolfe served as Associate Professor at Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan, Kansas and at Pacific Christian College now of Hope International University, in Fullerton, California and as a part-time instructor and graduate assistant at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
In his career he has taught piano students of all ages from children to adults, from beginning to advanced levels, in small groups and in piano class settings. At the college level he taught courses in piano, music theory, music history, conducting, and comprehensive musicianship.
In addition to his career in teaching, Dr. Wolfe has been an active leader in church music since 1973, most recently as Associate Pastor of First Christian Church of Tempe for 12 years, ending in 2003. He got his start in church music in the Central Christian Church of Lancaster, California. He holds the Doctor of Musical Arts in piano from the University of Colorado, where he studied with internationally known performing artist and educator Guy Duckworth, and the Master of Arts in choral conducting from California State University, Fullerton, where he learned under the tutelage of the inimitable Howard Swan. His bachelors is in church music from Hope International University in Fullerton.
Dr. Wolfe is listed in American Keyboard Artists, 1989; Outstanding Young Men of America, 1980; and Who's Who Among Students in Colleges and Universities, 1973. His piano teachers were Dr. Duckworth of the University of Colorado, Dr. Russell Squire, Sue Magnuson, and Glenn Reddick, his first piano teacher from the age of 9 through high school.
He has performed as piano soloist in recitals across the Midwestern and Southwestern United States
Edward Wolfe has been a fan of Christian apologetics since his teenage years, when he began seriously to question the truth of the Bible and the reality of Jesus.
Dr. Wolfe has been married since 1975 to his lovely wife Louise. They have four children, of whom he is excessively and justifiably proud.
