How to Read Music (Reading) 5

Although some people think it's harder to read bass clef than treble, it really is just a shift in the same pattern. Some people just remember the letter names of the line notes (G, B, D, F, A) and the space notes (A, C, E, G). Others use the bass clef symbol to remember where the note "F" is; with a little imagination we can see the F in the symbol. The F line is the one between the two dots.
Those who read treble clef easily can just shift the letters up two when reading bass clef. For example, the bottom line, "E" in treble clef is a "G" in bass clef. The bottom space "F" in treble is an "A" in bass.
This 2-minute lesson shows just how to read the letters in bass clef and plays some lovely orchestral examples from a Schumann symphony. I invite you to take my little, 10-question quiz to find out how much you've learned.
