His Eye Is on the Sparrow
When I hear the melody of this song, my mind flashes back many years to my church friend Rhodanne’s soprano voice singing it, one of her favorites. Her voice had a pure, almost bird-like quality to it and came from deep well-springs of personal sorrow and heartache; yet it was joyful, too.
The arrangement here attempts to capture some of the peace and joy of knowing that God’s eye is on us, his peace and presence with us. Find the inspiration for the lyrics of this song at the CyberHymnal. “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?” said Jesus. “Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31)
My music is somewhat reminiscent of Chopin's "Prelude Op. 28, No. 3 in G Major" (with much slower accompaniment).
