Beethoven on Music

Portrait by Joseph Karl Stieler, 1820

I am inclined to think that a hunt for folk songs is better than a manhunt of the heroes who are so highly extolled. Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) Quoted in Music Lovers Quotations, edited by Helen Exley.

Beethoven is one of the most admired and performed composers of Western art music.  He famously went deaf during his middle and later years.  Folk songs form the musical basis for the TPA music theory curriculum.
